Wax-Up Smile Gallery

Here at our office, cosmetic dentist Dr. Ian Smith has provided countless Kingston area patients with stunning results. This is all thanks to the experience and knowledge he has accumulated over his long career, the particulars of which you can view on our About Us page. Over the years, we have gathered before and after images of our previous work, which we now invite you to browse below to see the quality of work you can expect when you come to our office.

Constant pressure and stress over time will cause wear and eventual failure of anything, including teeth.

When you consider the harsh environment our teeth endure on a daily basis, there should be no surprise that chewing forces and pressures coupled with our western diet is extremely taxing on our dentition.  For Many people, the daily use and abuse their teeth experience requires some level in intervention to extend the lifespan of their functioning teeth.

Dr Smith’s goal as a dental provider is to deliver both excellent esthetic and functionally lasting results.   “Not only does it have to look great, It has to be designed in away where it has a chance to last and perform in spite of the harsh environment.”

I have learned that esthetically pleasing and long lasting results are obtained by meticulous examination and record taking to determine the proper diagnosis.  Once the diagnosis is accurately obtained, a treatment plan can be created to deliver the desired result.  Diagnostic wax is so helpful because I can design the teeth in a way where they functionally work, are esthetically pleasing and can be viewed by the patient before they commit to treatment.  Diagnostic wax allows me to develop the least invasive treatment plan that satisfies the patients desires.  In other words,”  I give the patient the least amount of dentistry that gets the job done.”

My Philosophy is “The least amount
of dentistry that gets
the job done.”

Patrick: “I feel that my teeth are worn and you can’t see them when I smile. I would like whiter teeth and my crowns replaced”

A common aesthetic concern for patients is that with age and use, teeth wear and become shorter in appearance. Over time, many people feel their teeth are not visible when speaking. To make matters worse, as we age the upper lip tends to “sag” down making the upper front teeth harder to see. In these situations, diagnostic wax is used to create fuller and longer teeth and then transferred to the patient in temporary crowns. Once we determine we have solved the aesthetic challenge, New porcelain materials are placed to complete the case.

Meredith: “Can you correct my worn front teeth and make my smile fuller and whiter?”

Using diagnostic wax, I determined I could achieve a fantastic result with whitening and only 6 porcelain veneers. Meredith liked the fact she could see the end result before we started. She felt confident and excited to start treatment after seeing her wax “mock up.”

David

Diagnostic wax was used to replace missing tooth structure and rebuild David’s worn teeth and overall bite.
Aesthetically, we were able to re-align his teeth to a more desirable position. David appreciated how he was able to view his new bite and teeth design prior to starting treatment. Fortunately we were able to maintain and rebuild his existing dentition and avoid tooth loss for David.
